The latest and greatest release of Druid is now out, version 1.2.0-3.
There was two previous releases of 1.2 which had some serious build issues, If you are running 1.2.0-1 or 1.2.0-2 please upgrade now. This version of Druid has a lot of new stuff. First we have re-done a lot of the backend to help us towards releasing a proper SOAP API. As with all other releases we have a ton of bug fixes and some new functionality. 1. Now extensions don't have to be attached to be used. Detached extensions can still be used from a softphone, mobile bridging, etc. 2. Detached phones can dial all available features such as *411 for directory. 4. Detached phones can also be hotdesked into your extension. So for example you can now have an office full of detached phones and people can just sit down at any free-desk and use hotdesk login to attach their extension to that phone until they loggout. 5. We have also added hotdesk agents. In other words these are a form of callback agents where agents can use hotdesking to login to a detached or attached phone and have calls from the queue forwarded to them at that phone. 6. All queues can now have static and dynamic agents. 7. Druid now has *FULL* multi-lingual support as well as proper localization. Your language can be selected at login or auto-detected from our browser locale. We have translated Druid into two languages Chinese and Vietnamese to show you that how well Druid localization works for even relatively complex scripts. We are building on this to add localization sounds and allow for Asterisk level localization. We have had a few people come forward and offer to help with translations. Feel free to contact me if you want to see Druid in a language you are familiar with. 7. Help tooltips added to Druid. Now moving over almost any label in Druid will cause a help tooltip to popup, this helps users navigate and use Druid getting instant help. Help tooltips are also fully localized and multi-lingual. For example if try tooltips with your language set to Chinese. 8. Druid is now much faster the backend server code has been highly optimized. For example the Druid AEL macros use less than half the number of databases calls. Also the latest Dojo 1.1 is much faster and is now compiled (not in terms of how you compile your C code). We make use of the Dojo build framework and compress and optimize the javascript into tiny quick loading packages based on a defined build profile. This will make client in pages load much faster. Its made Druid much faster on FF2 and it just zips in FF3. Have fun with the release and feel free to mail me at vikram AT voiceroute DOT net or post to the forums if you want to help the Druid project in anyway. We are always looking for developers and graphics people. |
